UNDIVIDED ATTENTION

  Luke 5:1–3 (TPT)

On one occasion, Jesus was preaching to the crowds on the shore of the shore of Lake Galilee. There was a vast multitude of people pushing to get close to Jesus to hear the word of God. He noticed two fishing boats at the water’s edge, with the fishermen nearby, rinsing their nets. Jesus climbed into the boat belonging to Simon Peter and asked him, “Let me use your boat. Push it off a short distance away from the shore so I can speak to the crowds.”(Of note: Lake Galilee is also known as the “Sea of Galilee” and “Lake of Gennesaret”)

 

 Jesus needed a place to preach; He didn’t need a fancy podium. He wanted a place away from the people so they’d stop crowding Him, and He could breathe. (I know you’ve had that happen … just sayin’). Jesus looked around and saw two boats available. Peter’s boat was one of the two. Jesus only needed one, which meant it was a 50/50 chance to choose Peter’s boat. But yep, you guessed it! He chooses Peter’s boat, hopped in, and said to Peter, “Push it off a short distance away from the shore so I can speak to the crowds.” Jesus didn’t have a microphone, and yet He wants to be pushed out even farther. Why? Jesus wanted the undivided attention of Peter. And there is a 100% chance that He wants your undivided attention too! So, hop in your boat with Jesus, and push off to a place where He has your undivided attention. Just you and Him. Journal what He says to you about success in your life, now is a perfect time to get it started.

WHAT KEEPS YOU FROM GIVING YOUR UNDIVIDED ATTENTION TO JESUS?

WHAT WILL YOU DO DIFFERENTLY EACH DAY TO GIVE JESUS YOUR UNDIVIDED ATTENTION? (YEAH, I KNOW, IT REQUIRES CHANGE!)

BY THE WAY, THERE IS A 100% CHANCE THAT JESUS WANTS TO USE YOUR BOAT AND GET IN IT WITH YOU. THE QUESTION IS, ARE YOU WILLING? IF SO, WHAT DOES THAT LOOK LIKE FOR YOU? IF YOU ARE WILLING FOR HIM TO USE YOUR BOAT, DO YOU ENJOY BEING IN THE BOAT ALONE WITH JESUS?
